Lalu, terbitlah majalah yang mereka publikasikan bernama Poedjangga Baroe pada bulan Mei 1933. Majalah itu diterbitkan oleh Pustaka Rakyat, suatu badan yang memang mempunyai perhatian terhadap masalah-masalah kesenian. Tetapi, pada zaman pendudukan Jepang majalah Pujangga Baru ini dilarang oleh pemerintah Jepang dengan alasan karena kebarat-baratan. Namun setelah Indonesia merdeka, majalah ini diterbitkan lagi, dengan pemimpin Redaksi Sutan Takdir Alisjahbana dan beberapa tokoh-tokoh angkatan 45 seperti Asrul Sani, Rivai Apin dan S. Rukiah.
