Skripsi ini membahas transportasi umum massal kota Jakarta yaitu trem yang sudah beroperasi di tiga masa pemerintahan, mulai dari pemerintahan Hindia Belanda, Jepang hingga Indonesia. Transportasi trem dijalankan demi memenuhi kebutuhan kota, seperti memobilisasi warga atau melancarkan kegiatan perekonomian. Sayangnya trem yang sudah beroperasi sejak 1869 itu harus dihentikan pengoperasiannya pada masa pemerintahan Indonesia. Presiden Sukarno menganggap trem terlalu kuno dan tidak pantas untuk kota Jakarta. Setelah trem dihapuskan, bus-bus pun menggantikan peranannya dalam melayani warga Jakarta.

This thesis discusses the mass public transportation tram i.e. Jakarta already operates in three reign of Indian Government, ranging from the Netherlands, Japan and Indonesia. Tram transportation is carried out in order to meet the needs of the city, such as mobilizing citizens or launch an economic activity. Unfortunately the trams have operated since 1869 it should cease to operate during the reign of Indonesia. President Sukarno considered trams too old fashioned and improper for the city of Jakarta. After the tramway was removed, the buses were replacing their role in serving the citizens of Jakarta.
