Istana asli kerajaan Gowa sudah tidak bisa dilacak lagi. Pusat kerajaan ini memang berpindah-pindah, dari bukit Tamalate ke delta sungai Jeneberang lalu pindah lagi ke bukit sampai akhirnya raja Gowa terakhir membangun Balla Lompoa.
