Mahasiswa UKP Rancang Kebun Binatang Surabaya II
Surabaya, Jia Xiang - Mahasiswa Program Studi Arsitektur Universitas Kristen Petra (UKP) Surabaya, Leonard Suteja, merancang maket bangunan Kebun Binatang Surabaya II di kawasan eko-wisata mangrove di Wonorejo, Surabaya Timur.

"Saya merancang tugas akhir berupa maket KBS II, karena KBS I di Jalan Setail, Wonokromo, Surabaya Pusat sudah penuh, sehingga perlu ada KBS II untuk menampung hewan KBS I yang berlebihan," katanya di perpusatakaan UKP, Kamis (20/02/14).

Menjelang wisuda Sabtu (22/2/14) yang diikuti 527 wisudawan itu, Leonard menjelaskan, dia merancang KBS II, karena KBS akhir-akhir ini diterpa isu yang diakibatkan rebutan kepemilikan.
"Karena itu, saya memikirkan perlunya KBS di lokasi lain sebagai alternatif, sekaligus untuk menampung hewan dari KBS Wonokromo itu bila sudah berlebihan, agar kehidupan hewan lebih baik karena kandang hewan-hewan itu tidak penuh," paparnya.

Dalam rancangannya itu, ia mengandaikan bangunan KBS II seluas 3,34 hektare di kawasan Pantai Timur Surabaya (Pamurbaya) yang memang dialokasikan Pemkot Surabaya sebagai kawasan flora dan fauna dalam tata ruang kota terbaru.

Namun, ia merancang bangunan KBS II lebih terkonsep secara kronologis dari hewan kecil dengan tinggi badan kurang dari 1 meter, hewan sedang seting 1-2 meter, dan hewan besar setinggi 2 meter lebih dengan jenis mulai dari unggas, mamalia, reptil, dan sebagainya. [Ant/E4]
