Kura-Kura dan Kelinci

Zaman dahulu Kelinci dan Kura-kura tak bersahabat. Setiap kali bertemu, Kelinci selalu mengejek Kura-kura yang jalannya lambat. Padahal, dengan teman lain, Kura-kura selalu hidup rukun. ”Hai Kura-kura, jalanmu lambat !”, begitu kata Kelinci mengejek Kura-kura.

Suatu hari Kelinci menantang Kura-kura mengadakan lomba lari. ”Akan kuperlihatkan kepada semua binatang bahwa aku bisa lari sepuluh kali lebih cepat dari padamu”, kata Kelinci kepada Kura-kura. ”Hentikanlah bualanmu itu, Kelinci !. Kita buktikan dengan perbuatan, bukan dengan perkataan”, jawab Kura-kura.

Kedua hewan itu pun sepakat berlomba lari. Singa, Si Raja Hutan, akan menjadi wasit karena dapat mengaum dengan keras dan dapat didengar oleh penghuni hutan yang lain di seluruh pelosok. Ketika Singa mengaum, tanda dimulainya pertandingan, dengan sigap Kelinci berlari kencang seperti angin, woossshh. Sebaliknya Kura-kura melangkahkan kakinya dengan lambat. Banyak teman yang memberi semangat kepada Kelinci, namun tak sedikit pula yang memberi semangat Kura-kura. Kura-kura tetap dengan langkahnya yang lambat, melihat Kelinci telah berada jauh di depan. Sesekali Kelinci melihat ke belakang untuk memastikan bahwa Kura-kura tidak dapat menyusulnya dan berada jauh di belakang. Pikir Kelinci, ”Pasti kemenangan ada padaku. Aku lelah sekali. Sebaiknya aku tidur sebentar. Sampai aku bangun pun, Kura-kura tidak dapat menyusulku”. Akhirnya Kelinci tertidur dengan pulas di bawah pohon rindang di tengah hutan. Kura-kura yang terus berjalan dengan tekun dan bersemangat, akhirnya sampai di tempat Kelinci yang sedang tertidur. Dengan tenang, Kura-kura melewati Kelinci yang tengah tidur terlelap.

Tiba-tiba Kelinci tersentak dari tidurnya, karena ia mendengar suara Singa mengaum dari jauh dengan kerasnya sebanyak tiga kali, tanda perlombaan usai. Kelinci lari sekencang-kencangnya. Tetapi malang baginya karena Kura-kura telah berahsil mencapai garis finish terlebih dahulu. Bahkan, Kura-kura telah mendapat sambutan hangat dari penghuni hutan yang lain. Akhirnya, Kelinci harus mengakui kekalahannya dalam lomba lari tersebut. Ia memberi ucapan selamat kepada Kura-kura dan berjanji tidak akan sombong lagi.

Apa yang dapat kita pelajari dari cerita di atas ? Setiap anak yang memiliki kemampuan yang tinggi, jika tidak disertai ketekunan dan semangat tinggi, tidak akan memetik sukses belajar. Dengan semua kesulitan yang dihadapi dan kita berhasil mengatasinya, kita menjadi seperti Kura-kura, yang berhasil menjadi pemenang melalui jalan panjang dengan kerendahan hati, ketekunan dan penuh semangat, dan berujung kemenangan.
