Pada Hadits ini, kalimat “Segala amal hanya menurut niatnya” yang dimaksud dengan amal disini adalah semua amal yang dibenarkan syari’at, sehingga setiap amal yang dibenarkan syari’at tanpa niat maka tidak berarti apa-apa menurut agama islam. Tentang sabda Rasulullah, “semua amal itu tergantung niatnya” ada perbedaan pendapat para ulama tentang maksud kalimat tersebut. Sebagian memahami niat sebagai syarat sehingga amal tidak sah tanpa niat, sebagian yang lain memahami niat sebagai penyempurna sehingga amal itu akan sempurna apabila ada niat.
