SEJARAH PERKEMBANGAN PROPINSI JAWA TENGAH

Sebagai suatu Propinsi, Jawa Tengah sudah dikenal sejak jaman penjajahan Belanda didasarkan pada peraturan-peraturan yang berlaku pada saat itu.

Jaman Penjajahan Belanda

Pemerintahan di Jawa dan Madura terbagi atas Gewest (Karesidenan), Afdeeling/Regentschap (Kabupaten), District / Standgeemente (Kotapraja), dan Oderdistrict(Kecamatan) berdasarkan Wet houdende decentralisatie van het Bestuur in Nederland -Indie (Decentralisatie Wet 1903).

Jaman Pendudukan Jepang

Pembentukan Propinsi Jawa Tengah ditetapkan berdasarkan Pasal 18 UUD 1945, diterbitkan UU No. 10 Tahun 1950 sesual dengan PP No. 31 Tahun 1950, UU No.10 Tahun 1950, dinyatakan berlaku pada tanggal 15 Agustus 1950. Selanjutnya berdasarkan Peraturan Daerah Propinsi Jawa Tengah Nomor 7 Tahun 2004 ditetapkan Hari Jadi Propinsi Jawa Tengah tanggal l5 Agustus 1950.

Provinsi Jawa Tengah dibagi dalam beberapa wilayah administrasi pemerintahan yang dipimpin seorang kepala daerah dan wali kota. Berbagai daerah di jawa tengah memiliki keindahan alam maupun budaya yang khas dan menarik bagi para wisatawan. Misalnya, dieng Plato di Wonosobo, Pulau Karimun di Kabupaten Jepara, Candi Prambanan di Klaten, dan di beberapa daerah lainnya.
