Penelitian ini dilatarbelakangi adanya peserta didik belum mampu menguasai materi, dilihat dari peserta didik yang belum mampu mencapai kriteria ketuntasan minimal (KKM)= 75. Ketika mencapai KKM maka akan dianggap tuntas. Artinya peserta didik menguasai materi tersebut. Berangkat dari hal itu, perlu adanya perbaikan untuk mencapai ketuntasan tersebut suatu. Apalagi berkaitan dengan mata pelajaran Pendidikan agama Islam (PAI). Pendidikan agam Islam merupakan kebutuhan yang sangat penting untuk diberikan. Karena agama Merupakan bekal serta pedoman hidup manusia. Dalam pembelajarannya perlu menguasai seluruhnya. Apabila belum maka harus ada perbaikan hingga mencapai tujuan untuk menguasai pendidikan Agama Islam. Salah satu metode yang digunakan dalam pembelajaran remedial yaitu dengan tutor teman sebaya.
