St. Andrew Kim Taegon was the first priest of Korea. He died as a martyr on September 16 1846, just one year after being ordained. St. Andreas Kim's father had preceded them be martyred in 1821. St. Paul Chong Hasang was a lay Catechist who is brave. He died as a martyr on September 22, 1846. Now the Church is thriving in Korea. The gift of faith received as sacrificial offerings of martyrs has been opening the way.
St. Andrew Kim Taegon and St. Paul Chong Hasang represents the glory as well as the courage of Korea that Catholics have paid dearly love them to Christ;
Pope John Paul II declared the two Korea namely St Andrew Kim and St. Paul Chong as holy porang in 1984 when the Pope visited Korea.
