Dari kronologi perang di atas, bisa kita lihat bahwa yang menjadi aktor utama dalam konflik ini adalah masing-masing negara. Ossetia Selatan memang terlibat namun itu hanya berupa pemantik dari perang yang sesungguhnya antara Georgia dan Rusia. Rusia ingin melakukan Proxy War atas Amerika yang mendukung Georgia. Disini ada juga peran NATO, namun penulis hanya melihat Amerika di balik itu karena negara-negara Eropa atau negara-negara anggota NATO yang lain tidak menyatakan dukungan mereka atas Georgia, Uni Eropa malah menyalahkan Georgia atas perang Agustus ini.
