Perkembangan seni bela diri di indonesia pada zaman sekarang ini sangatlah memprihatinkan. Hal ini disebabkan karna pengaruh modernisasi. Selain itu, para pemuda kita cenderung memilih belajar seni bela diri yang berasal dari luar negeri. Padahal secara kompleks silat indonesia tidak kalah dengan seni bela diri yang datang dari luar negeri. Selain bela diri yang kita dapat dari silat indonesia adalah nilai nilai budaya yang melekat dan juga melestarikan budaya.
Salah satu silat yang ada di indonesia adalah PSHT. Sejarahnya silat ini semula bernama SH (Setia Hati) yang didirikan oleh Ki Ageng Suro Diwiryo pada tahun 1902. Dulunya silat ini hanya diajarkan dikalangan ningrat saja. Kemudian diantara murid muridnya yg bernama Ki hajar hardjo utomo berkeinginan untuk mengajarkan silat ini ke segala kalangan dan seluruh indonesia. Ki ageng suro diwiryo pun merestuinya . Berdirilah psht yang didirikan oleh ki hajar hardjo utomo pada tahun 1922.
Dalam silat psht dibagi 4 tingkatan sabuk yaitu : 1. Hitam (polos) 2. Pink (jambon)
3. Hijau (ijo) 4. Putih. dan psht tidak mengenal sistem perguruan yaitu jika seorang telah menempuh 4 tingkatan sabuk, maka akan disahkan sebagai warga dan boleh mengajarkan kepada adik adiknya.
Perkembangan silat ini tergolong pesat. Hampir setiap daerah ada. Namun sekarang ini mengalami penurunan jumlah keanggotaan.
Seperti contoh PSHT di SMA N 1SLAWI . Dulunya mempunyai cukup banyak anggota tetapi sekarang mengalami penurunan. Dalam hal latihan psht di smansawi tidak begitu keras. Karna memang khususnya untuk sekolah yang difokuskan adalah latihan keatlitan untuk meraih prestasi.
