Nanggroe Aceh Darussalam sering disingkat dengan N A D, kita tentu tahu negeri yang terletak paling barat di Indonesia ini. Aceh berdiri pada tanggal 7 Desember 1959, ditetapkan dengan Undang-Undang No 24 tahun 1959 Tentang Daerah Istemewa Aceh. Pada tahun 2001, dengan otonomi khusus, namanya berubah menjadi Naggroe Aceh Darussalam yang beribukota Banda Aceh.

Luas wilayah Aceh secara keseluruhan 57.365,57 km2 atau sebesar 2,88% dari luas wilayah Indonesia. Oya, selain daratan provinsi NAD juga terdiri dari pulau-pulau besar dan kecil, ada yang berpenghuni dan yang tidak berpenghuni.
