Berdasarkan permintaan dari awak kapal, Departemen Teknik segera memastikan apakah dapat diperbaiki sendiri atau oleh pihak lain. Jika dapat diperbaiki sendiri, Departemen Teknik akan mengirimkan suku cadang dan bila diperlukan akan mengirimkan personil untuk membantu perbaikan. Sedangkan jika tidak dapat diperbaiki sendiri, Departemen Teknik akan mengusulkan untuk mengirimkan kapal untuk diperbaiki di galangan kapal terdekat.
