The tendency of the previous regional development research usually leads to improving the welfare of the residents of the border region by way of exploitation of natural resources, for the long term this could adversely impact both for the local population and the environment. As an example can be seen in East Kalimantan alone, 80 and 90 we are one of the largest timber producers, but when the wood runs out, the industry collapsed, unemployment is everywhere. Currently we are also experiencing the same thing, when the exploitation of coal and petroleum massively in our province, then the price of coal and oil tumbled on world markets, what happens is unemployment increasing, remaining only environmental degradation, water pollution and soil.
