As a first attempt on October 15, 1959 held at the Candra Naya, Jalan Gajah Mada number 188, the foundation established Tarumanagara College of Economics, Department of Economics. College is led by Drs. Oen Kho Bik as dean and Drs. Lo Kiem Tjing as Vice Dean. Then on February 3, 1960 followed by a meeting to discuss the plan of vocational technical school education. As a follow-up to this discussion, on October 24, 1960, Ir. Ong Tjing Jong appointed to form a preparatory committee for the establishment of a technical school. The work of this committee discussed in the foundation meetings on September 7, 1962, and the meeting decided to establish a Vocational Technical School of Architecture with the leaders Ir. Hadmadi as chairman and Ir. W. Pragantha as secretary. At the inauguration date of October 1, 1962, the school was used as a Faculty of Engineering Department of Architecture. This faculty is one of the Department of Architecture oldest private in IndonesiaSebagai consequences of students' struggle to overthrow the old order and to enforce the New Order, classroom-lecture did not go according to plan and schedule, even the Faculty of Languages Modern, English Department was forced to shut down and students with a sense of weight is distributed to the Faculty of Letters, University of Indonesia. For the University, 1967 is the year of the beginning of its revival. In that year inaugurated the use of campus Jalan S. Parman with a ceremony quite grand in scale of development at the time. For the first time in Untar activities covered by TVRI and broadcast the next day. It is noteworthy that representing the Governor of DKI is Deputy Governor Dr. R. Soewondo, which then in 1974 served as Chairman of the Foundation TarumanagaraPada academic year 1994/1995, also opened two new faculties at the University Tarumanagara. Followed by the Faculty of Information Technology earlier opened as Information Engineering Program in the academic year 1992/1993. Thus at this time the University Tarumanagara manages seven faculties, namely the Faculty of Economics, Faculty of Law, Faculty of Engineering, Faculty of Medicine, Faculty of Psychology, Faculty of Art and Design, Faculty of Information Technology; as well as three Masters Program in the Program Master of Legal Studies, Master Program in Civil Engineering and Management Master Program.
