Jakarta, Jia Xiang-Kepala Kindergarten Saint Peter’s School Maria Magdalena mendukung jika ada orangtua yang memutuskan buah hati mereka yang masih usia bawah lima tahun (balita) mulai mengenal pendidikan dini sebab akan membuat anak mereka menjadi lebih cerdas dalam menyerap pelajaran.


“Tentunya orangtua harus selektif memilih taman kanak-kanak maupun sekolah pendidikan usia dini untuk anak-anak mereka sehingga tidak membuat anak hanya sebatas belajar saja di sekolah sebab dunia anak itu selama ini dikenal sebagai dunia bermain,” katanya kepada Jia Xiang Hometown di kawasan Kelapa Gading, Jakarta Utara, Rabu (19/2).


Maria menjelaskan bahwa Kindergarten Saint Peter’s School menerapkan konsep fun untuk anak-anak yang mulai sekolah. “Kami di sini mendidik mulai anak umur dua tahun. Dan, kami melakukan pendidikan belajar dan bermain untuk anak. Di Saint Peter’s School kami mengenalnya dengan hand out activity,” urainya.
Menurut dia, semakin dini anak mengenal dunia pendidikan akan membuat anak tersebut bisa menjadi lebih pintar kemampuan intelektualnya ketimbang anak seumurnya sebab rasa ingin tahu dan mau belajar sang anak sudah dikenal sejak awal.


Adapun kehadiran sekolah usia dinia masih mengundang kontroversi. Yang tidak setuju mengatakan, di usia ini seharusnya anak lebih banyak berinteraksi dengan orangtua dan bermain, bukannya sudah ‘sibuk’ sekolah.

Sementara Adriana Ginanjar, seorang psikolog menjelaskan bahwa jangan lagi serta-merta mengatakan ‘tidak’ pada sekolah-sekolah usia dini.

Pada dasarnya, tujuan sekolah pendidikan dini adalah mempersiapkan anak untuk memasuki jenjang pendidikan dasar. Lewat sekolah ini, anak belajar bersosialisasi dan berinteraksi dengan teman sebaya, serta mengasah kreativitas melalui beragam permainan.
Jadi, selama tidak ada unsur paksaan, anak akan senang-senang saja melakukannya. Soal intensitas berinteraksi dengan orang tua?
