Pemberian reward maupun punishment sangat sangat penting dalam proses belajar mengajar, karena reward dan punishment merupakan salah satu bentuk dan cara dalam meningkatkan motivasi belajar siswa. Maksud reward ini adalah untuk memotivasi siswa dalam belajar bahasa asing, terutama dalam pembelajaran bahasa Arab supaya lebih aktif dan rajin belajar. Dengan pemberian hadiah, dan motivasi dapat meningkatkan kemampuan siswa untuk melakukan apa yang ia sukai dan merangsang siswa untuk melakukannya secara berulang-ulang. Sedangkan punismen merupakan suatu bentuk respon negatif yang diberikan kepada siswa sebagai suatu peringatan karena telah melakukan pelanggaran atau kesalahan sehingga siswa tidak mengulanginya.
