Enforced disappearance of persons, Dalam pasal 7 ayat (2) huruf i Statuta Roma menjelaskan “Penghilangan orang secara paksa adalah penangkapan, penahanan atau penculikan seorang oleh atau dengan kuasa, dukungan atau persetujuan dari negara atau kebijakan organisasi, diikuti oleh penolakan untuk mengakui perampasan kemerdekaan tersebut atau memberikan informasi tentang nasib atau keberadaan orang tersebut, dengan maksud untuk melepaskan dari perlindungan hukum dalam jangka waktu yang panjang.”
