PETUALANGAN KURAMA


Pada suatu hari, hiduplah seekor rubah yang bernama Kurama. Ia hidup sendirian. Ayah dan ibunya telah lama meninggal. Sebelum orang tuanya meninggal, ibunya berpesan, “Lakukanlah kebaikan sebanyak-banyaknya untuk sesamamu, agar kamu tidak kekurangan.” Kurama selalu mengingat pesan itu. Karena ingin melaksanakan pesan itu, ia memutuskan untuk hidup mengembara dan berpetualang.
Pada suatu hari Kurama sedang mengejar seekor ayam yang sangat besar. Setelah ia berhasil menangkap ayam itu, ia melihat rubah kecil yang sedang kelaparan.
“Tolong, tolonglah aku. Aku lapar. Sudah tiga hari aku belum makan,” pinta kucing kecil itu sambil menangis. Kurama sangat kasihan kepadanya.
“Sudah, sudah. Hentikan tangismu. Ayo, makanlah ayam ini agar perutmu terisi!” kata Kurama. Rubah kecil itu pun makan dengan lahapnya. Kurama senang karena dapat menolong sesama, walaupun sebenarnya ia sendiri merasa lapar.
Setelah makan, Rubah kecil itu akan membalas budi baik Kurama dengan mencari ayam bersama-sama si Belang. Kebetulan saat itu juga mereka melihat seekor ayam baru saja keluar dari sarangnya. Kurama dan rubah kecil pun segera mengejarnya.
“Ayo, ayo! Kejar aku terus, sampai dapat menangkapku!” ejek ayam yang ternyata adalah ayam yang paling bandel. Ayam itu memang gesit larinya seperti burung unta. Ia berlari terus menuju tepi danau. Rupanya ia ingin menjebak Kurama dan rubah kecil itu. Ia sudah hafal liku-liku jalan tepi danau itu. Sebaliknya Kurama dan rubah kecil belum pernah menginjakkan kakinya di jalan tepi danau itu. Karena sangat bersemangat, Kurama tidak menyadari bahwa tikus itu akan menjebaknya. Di suatu tikungan yang sangat licin, ayam itu melompat ke atas pohon. Kurama melompat berusaha menangkapnya, tetapi tidak kena. Pada waktu kakinya menginjak jalan kembali, ia terpeleset dan meluncur tercebur ke danau.

Setelah mengucapkan terima kasih, si Belang melanjutkan perjalanan. Ia mengembara ingin melaksanakan pesan ibunya.
