Sebenarnya, tujuan awal dari kebijakan LCGC ini adalah agar produk LCGC bisa menjadi produk ekspor utama di Indonesia. Sehingga dengan usaha ini diharapkan bisa membantu perekonomian di Indonesia.
Selain itu kehadiran perjanjian kerjasama MEA 2015 menyuruh pemerintah untuk menyiapkan segala sesuatunya agar Indonesia dapat bersaing dengan negara ASEAN, sehingga pemerintah memtusukan tentang kebijakan insentif produksi Low Cost Green Car (LCGC) untuk menutup kemungkinan dari tingginya mobil impor dari ASEAN.
