KEDIRI, KOMPAS.com - Letusan Gunung Kelud di perbatasan Kabupaten Kediri, Malang, dan Blitar, semuanya di Jawa Timur, pada Kamis (13/2/2014), memporakporandakan pula ribuan hektar lahan pertanian. Di Kediri, 7.832 hektar lahan pertanian rusak.

Dari luas lahan tersebut, tanaman yang rusak mencakup tanaman pangan dan hortikultura. Dari tanaman pangan, padi dan jagung adalah di antaranya.

Adapun dari tanaman hortultura yang rusak akibat letusan ini antara lain adalah tomat, bawang, terong, kacang panjang, timun, buncis, ubi jalar, ubi kayu, bungkul, nanas, pisang, durian, cabai kecil, dan cabai besar.

Kerusakan tanaman merupakan akibat terpaan abu vulkanis maupun dampak ikutan berupa penyakit tanaman sesudahnya. Dinas Pertanian Pemerintah Kabupaten Kediri mencatat kerugian materiil pertanian di wilayah ini mencapai Rp 83.800.815.000.
