ABSTRACT The thesis, entitled "Implementation of Problem Solving Methods in Improving Student Results In Subject Mathematics Class IV (Multi-Site Study in MIS Hidayatul Mubtadiin Sumbergempol Wates and MIS Podorejo Sumbergempol Tulungagung Tulungagung)" was written by Rohmah Ivantri guided by Dr. Nawawi Hasyim, SH. M.Sc. and Dr. Eni Setyowati, M.Pd. Keywords: Problem Solving Methods, Results Student. This research is motivated by the learning of Mathematics which is one of the subjects that are very important and was considered a difficult subject for elementary school children / MI. Khusussnya on stories about children tend to have difficulty changing the math to math sentence. Because the level of intelligence of children's language comprehension influence in the matter. So the teacher as an educator in the classroom should be able to take steps to resolve it. one Math strategies that teachers can do is select and implement methods of problem solving in the classroom. With so students will easily understand the material in the form of a story about it or not. The focus and research questions in this thesis are: (1) How does the planning study of mathematics by using the method of problem solving in mathematics class 4 in MIS Hidayatul Mubtadiin Wates Sumbergempol Tulungagung and MIS Podorejo Sumbergempol Tulungagung on student learning outcomes ?; (2) How is the implementation of learning mathematics by using the method of problem solving in mathematics in Grade 4 Mubtadiin Hidayatul Wates Sumbergempol MIS and MIS Podorejo Sumbergempol Tulungagung Tulungagung on student learning outcomes ?; (3) How does the evaluation study of mathematics by using the method of problem solving in mathematics in Grade 4 Mubtadiin Hidayatul Wates Sumbergempol MIS and MIS Podorejo Sumbergempol Tulungagung Tulungagung on student learning outcomes ?. This thesis is useful for educational institutions under study, expected to be a picture at once to guide how the strategies used in carrying out the process of learning mathematics by using the method of problem solving, the headmaster can be used as a reference to formulate educational policies related to the learning process that will come, for educators, especially for grade 4 teacher expected to increase knowledge and a source reference how to apply problem solving method in teaching and learning activities in the classroom to improve learning outcomes of students, so the students are accustomed and prepared mentally to face the problem clearly and was able to find a solution, for further research as research material further appropriate in particular with issues of problem methods solving as well as useful as guidance, direction, and references as well as a relevant consideration, or in accordance with the results of this study. From these results, the authors concluded that: (1) in terms of planning at both grade 4 teacher schools do planning before doing the learning process and Also in both schools prepare teaching materials before making the learning process, as well as in the MIS Hidayatul grade 4 teacher Mubtadiin make individual assignments and discussions, while at MIS podorejo fourth grade teacher only makes the task of discussion; (2) in the case of the implementation of both the institution equally apply problem solving method that was based on procedures, both schools were similarly combines the methods of problem solving with other methods in the learning activities, but teachers in MIS Hidayatul Mubtadiin students were divided into several groups with different levels of intelligence while MIS Podorejo divided only by a small group of friends bench, and at MIS Hidayatul Mubtadiin classroom atmosphere conducive whereas in MIS Podorejo somewhat crowded class atmosphere. However, in both schools discussions run smoothly, as well as in both school grade 4 teacher acts as a facilitator and provide reinforcement or conclusions from the discussion; (3) the evaluation of the application of the method of problem solving in learning have a difference in MIS Hidayatul Mubtadiin evaluation done by providing written and oral tests, while in MIS Podorejo evaluation carried out in the form of a written test, but evaluation in both schools equally be done by asking students presented the results of their discussions and grade 4 teacher had discussions with colleagues.
