The main objective of this paper is to analyze the suitability based teaching assignments for secondary schools Hong Kong using data, drawn from interviews with teachers and teacher educators in Hong Kong, and to propose some of the features of version-based approach to a task that may also have relevance to schools in other contexts, especially those who share with Hong Kong Confucian-heritage culture. The context of Hong Kong is the perfect location for the study of the task-based approach for a number of reasons. This paper has the motivation to explore why the official syllabus does not seem to be widely implemented. In addition, as the values and beliefs of teachers in Hong Kong may not be congruent with the principles TBLT, it is worthwhile asking for their views.
