Satu satu tradisi warisan Walisongo yang hingga kini masih dilestarikan. Yaitu tradisi menggelar Pasar Bandeng di pusat kota Gresik. Tradisi ini pertama kali diadakan oleh Sunan Giri untuk mengangkat perekonomian rakyat setempat. Tradisi Pasar Bandeng (prepekan cilik dan prepekan gede) Yang diadakan dua hari sebelum Hari Raya Lebaran atau malam 29 ramadhan. Selama dua hari itu penduduk Gresik yang mempunyai tambak bandeng berlomba-lomba untuk menjual hasil panennya ke Pasar Bandeng ini.Tradisi Pasar Bandeng juga merupakan persiapan masyarakat dalam menghadapi Hari Raya Lebaran. Di pasar bandeng tak hanya ikan bandeng yang dijual, ada juga ikan tambak lain seperti udang, mujair, nila, ikan mas. Sebelum acara pasar bandeng biasanya selalu di awali dengan acara MALEM SELAWE (Malam ke 25 bulan Ramadhan) yang dilaksanakan di makam Sunan Giri. Penyelenggaraan Pasar Bandeng oleh Pemerintah Gresik ini selain untuk melestarikan tradisi, juga untuk mendukung kemandirian ekonomi masyarakat Gresik.
