Tujuan untuk melaksanakan kerja praktek di PT Chevron Indonesia Company Balikpapan adalah :

a. Untuk mahasiswa

 Kesempatan untuk melakukan studi banding antara teori dan aplikasi serta mengalami lingkungan kerja dalam industri;
 Untuk mendapatkan pengetahuan tentang masalah teknis yang nyata serta solusinya di dunia kerja;
 Untuk membangun sebuah metode berpikirsecara sistematis dan konstruktif ketika menghadapi masalah industri di bidang kerja;
 Menerapkan pembelajaran yang telah didapatkan selama mengikuti perkuliahan (6 semester) di Universitas Hasanuddin;
 Memahami pemahaman yang lebih mengenai penerapan sistem dan teknologi bangunan lepas pantai yang ada di industri, khususnya yang digunakan oleh PT Chevron Indonesia Company;
 Memenuhi mata kuliah kerja praktek (dengan kode 472D324).
