Minyak atsiri sereh ( Cymbopogon nordus ) memiliki manfaat sebagai antibakteri di dalam penyembuhan luka. CMC-Na memiliki viskositas yang tinggi, sedangkan karbopol ditambahkan pada CMC-Na untuk menghasilkan gel yang jernih dan memiliki daya sebar yang lebih baik. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk membuat sediaan gel dari minyak atsiri sereh menggunakan berbagai kadar karbopol dan CMC-Na serta melihat pengaruh formulasi terhadap sifat fisik dan stabilitas fisik gel.
Gel dibuat dengan memvariasikan bahan pembentuk gel yaitu karbopol (0,50-2,00%) dan CMC-Na (3,00-4,50%). Gel yang diperoleh dievaluasi sifat fisiknya meliputi uji organoleptis, homogenitas, pH, viskositas, daya sebar, dan daya lekat. Data yang diperoleh dianalisis dengan software Design Expert 9 untuk melihat pengaruh variasi kadar karbopol dan CMC-Na terhadap sifat fisik gel dan mendapatkan formula optimum. Kemudian dilakukan verifikasi formula optimum dan di uji stabilitas fisiknya selama 3 siklus. Data yang diperoleh dianalisis secara statistik menggunakan one way ANNOVA untuk menggambarkan stabilitas gel minyak sereh.
Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa CMC-Na memberi pengaruh dominan pada daya sebar, daya lekat, viskositas, dan pH. Formula optimum gel minyak atsiri sereh yaitu kadar karbopol sebesar 1,22% dan kadar CMC-Na sebesar 3,77%. Formula optimum kombinasi basis karbopol dan CMC-Na pada sediaan gel minyak sereh yang disimpan menggunakan metode freeze-thaw selama 3 siklus stabil secara fisik.

CMC-Na has a high viscosity, whereas karbopol added on CMC-Na to produce crystal clear gel and has a better spread of power. This research aims to make gel preparations of Lemongrass essential oil using various levels of karbopol and CMC-Na as well as see the influence of formulation against physical stability and physical properties of the gel. The gel is made by varying the ingredients forming gels namely karbopol (0.50-2.00%) and CMC-Na (3.00-4.50%). Gel obtained physical properties evaluated include the test organoleptis, its homogeneity, pH, viscosity, power spread, and latched onto it. The data obtained were analyzed with software Design Expert 9 to see the influence of variations in the levels of karbopol and CMC-Na against physical properties of gels and get optimum formula. Then the optimum formula and verification in its physical stability test for 3 cycles. The data obtained were analyzed statistically using ANNOVA one way to describe the stability of gel-Lemongrass oil. The results showed that the CMC-Na gives the dominant influence on the spread of power, power latched onto, the viscosity, and pH. Optimum formula gel-Lemongrass essential oil namely karbopol levels of 1.22% and levels of CMC-Na of 3.47%. The optimum combination of base formula karbopol and CMC-Na on Lemongrass oil gel preparations are stored using the method of freeze-thaw for 3 cycles are physically stable.Key words: gel, Lemongrass, CMC-Na, karbopol

Then verified and tested formula of optimum physical stability for 3 cycles. Data were analyzed statistically using one way to describe the stability of the gel Annova citronella oil.
The results showed that the CMC-Na dominant influence on dispersive power, adhesion, viscosity, and pH. Formula optimum gel lemongrass essential oils namely carbopol levels of 1.22% and CMC-Na content of 3.77%.
