2.2.1. Metode Pemisahan Pada Separator
Prinsip dasar pemisahan minyak dari gas adalah :
- Gravity settling
- Gaya centrifugal
- Efek dari baffle
- Saringan (screen)
Pemisahan cairan yang terikut dari gas terjadi berdasarkan efek pengembunan, titik – titik cairan yang terikut gas terhalang oleh pelat – pelat lempengan dan cairan melekat pada baffle tersebut.Titik – titik cairan tersebut menjadi embun dan makin lama berubah menjadi butiran – butiran cairan yang lebih besar maka semakin berat dan akhirnya jatuh ke bagian pengumpul cairan.
Secara umum fungsi utama dari sebuah separator adalah :
- Unit utama pemisah cairan dari gas.
- Melanjutkan proses dengan memisahkan gas ikutan dari cairan.
- Untuk mengontrol penghentian kemungkinan pelepasan gas dari cairan.
- Memberikan waktu yang cukup untuk pemisahan antara minyak, air dan gas yang terproduksi.
- Melakukan Treatment lainnya jika memungkinkan.
