Dari hasil pengamatan peneliti dan wawancara dengan guru bahasa Arab Madrasah Tsanawiyah Negeri Tulungagung, bahwa siswa kelas delapan mengalami kesulitan dalam pembelajaran bahasa Arab terutama dalam mempelajari kaidah-kaidah dalam bahasa Arab. Mereka mengalami kesulitan dalam menyusun kalimat, menerjemahkan kalimat, serta kurang benar dalam membaca. Hal ini dikarenakan mereka mempunyai kemampuan yang lemah dalam membaca, serta kurang memahami kaidah-kaidah dalam bahasa Arab.
