Udang termasuk dalam kelas Crustace

Udang termasuk dalam kelas Crustacea yang mempunyai habitat di air laut maupun air tawar. Pada tubuh sebelah luarnya terdapat kutikula yang disusun oleh pectin dan garam-garam mineral. Exo-skeleton tubuh dibagi atas dua bagian yaitu
- Anterior yang disebut Cephalothorax.
- Posterior yang terdiri dari buku-buku disebut abdomen.
Struktur bukunya terdiri atas plat (lembaran) dorsal yang kompleks yang disebut tergum. Plat ventral transversal disebut sternum, plat yang menggantung sebelah-menyebelah disebut pleura, plat antara pleura dan kaki disebut epineura. Cephalothorax terdiri atas 13 ruas dari thorax yang bersatu yang disebut carapace. Bagian carapace yang mencuat disebut prostomium atau rostrum. Abdomen umumnya terdiri atas 6 ruas atau segmen yang diakhiri dengan telson. Terdapat 19 pasangan appendage dimana tiap-tiap segemn tubuhnya mempunyai sepasang segmen. Pada bagian kepalanya terdapat sepasang mata. Pada bagian appendage kepala terdapat sepasang antenna, sepasang antenule, sepasang mandibula, sepasang maxilula, dan sepasang maxilla. Abdomennya mempunyai lima pasang kaki yang digunakan untuk mengangkut telur.
Secara normal udang adalah dioccios, hanya dalam keadaan luar biasa mereka adalah hermaprodite.
Alat reproduksi jantan :
- testis yang terletak dibawah pericardial sinus.
- dua vasa differensia yang terbuka melalui coxopodite pada jalan kaki ke-5.
Alat reproduksi betina :
- ovary yang serupa testis baik bentuk maupun letaknya.
- sebuah oviduct terbuka pada coxopodite pada kaki jalan kaki ketiga.

On the head there is a pair of eyes. Another appendage on the head there is a pair of antenna, a pair of antenule, a pair of mandible, a pair of maxilula, and a pair of maxilla. Abdomennya have five pairs of legs that are used to transport the eggs.Normally the shrimp is dioccios, only in exceptional circumstances they are a hermaprodite.Male reproductive apparatus: -testicles located under the pericardial sinus.-two vasa differensia open coxopodite on walk through the 5th.Female reproductive apparatus:ovary-the good shape of the testicles or similar location.-an oviduct open on coxopodite at the foot of the third leg.
