ABSTRAK
Retardasi mental merupakan suatu penurunan fungsi intelektual menyeluruh yang terjadi pada masa perkembangan. Retardasi mental ditandai dengan nilai intellegence quotient (IQ) < 70. Retardasi mental menyebabkan ketidakmampuan individu untuk belajar dan beradaptasi secara normal. Hal tersebut membuat keterlambatan perkembangan, salah satunya motorik halus. Penelitian ini bertujuan mengetahui peran kegiatan origami terhadap kemampuan motorik halus pada anak dengan gangguan retardasi mental.
Penelitian eksperimental ini menggunakan rancangan pre-post test randomized control trial. Sampel berjumlah 33 orang yang dibagi menjadi kelompok kontrol (16 anak) dan kelompok perlakuan (17 anak). Pada kelompok perlakuan ditugaskan untuk melakukan kegiatan origami selama 60 menit dikali 14 pertemuan.
Hasil uji wilcoxon signed ranks data pretest dan posttest kelompok kontrol menunjukkan p = 0,157 (p > 0,05) pada kemampuan melipat dan p = 0,317 (p > 0,05) pada kemampuan menggunting, menunjukkan tidak ada perbedan yang signifikan. Uji wilcoxon signed ranks data pretest dan posttest kelompok perlakuan menunjukkan p = 0,001 (p < 0,05) pada kemampuan melipat dan p = 0,004 (p < 0,05) pada kemampuan menggunting, menunjukkan adanya perbedan yang signifikan kemampuan motorik halus sebelum dan sesudah intervensi.
Kesimpulan penelitian kegiatan origami berpengaruh meningkatkan kemampuan motorik halus penderita retardasi mental.

In conclusion origami activities increased the fine motor skills of patients with mental retardation.
