ABSTRAK. Pembentukan Provinsi Kalimantan Utara khususnya Kabupaten Malinau sebagai salah satu upaya dalam menata daerah merupakan solusi dalam rangka mengoptimalkan pelayanan publik karena dapat memperpendek rentang kendali pemerintahan, sehingga lebih efisien dan efektif. Berdasarkan hal tersebut, maka diperlukan adanya sarana dan prasarana lalu lintas yang memadai. Sarana dan prasarana tersebut berupa akses jaringan jalan dan jembatan dalam kesatuan sistem transportasi. Jalan dan jembatan merupakan prasarana penting untuk terwujudnya pembangunan nasional yang mendukung kegiatan pengembangan produksi dan jasa serta pengembangan suatu wilayah sehingga terwujud keselarasan pembagian dan kesesuaian pertumbuhan wilayah reginal, perkotaan dan pedesaan yang diselenggarakan secara holistik, berkelanjutan, berwawasan lingkungan dan memberdayakan masyarakat.
