RINGKASAN

A. Latar Belakang
Malaria adalah penyakit infeksi utama di dunia, sebagian besar kematian pada malaria disebabkan oleh malaria berat karena infeksi Plasmodium falciparum. (Harijanto et al., 2009). Malaria masih menjadi masalah kesehatan utama masyarakat di Kabupaten Jayapura. Tahun 2010 data dari Dinas Kesehatan Provinsi Papua terdapat 21.971 kasus malaria di Kota Jayapura. (TOPTV,2012). Rumah Sakit Umum Daerah Jayapura (RSUD) merupakan rumah sakit rujukan tipe B dengan jumlah pasien yang terdiagnosa malaria falciparum dan diberikan pengobatan menggunakan artesunat injeksi dan dihydroartemisinin-piperakuin (DHP) dari bulan Januari sampai Mei 2011 sebesar 150 pasien (Hadalia, 2011; Wanggai, 2011).
Penggunaan artesunat injeksi dan DHP serta primakuin sejak beberapa tahun terakhir digunakan pada kasus malaria berat di RSUD Jayapura. Berdasarkan hal tersebut di atas maka perlu dilakukan suatu penelitian untuk mengevaluasi efikasi dan efek samping penggunaan kombinasi obat artesunat injeksi dan DHP serta primakuin pada penderita malaria berat di RSUD Jayapura.

General Hospital area of Jayapura (PROVINCIAL HOSPITAL) is a hospital type B with reference number of terdiagnosa falciparum malaria patients and given treatment using artesunat injection and dihydroartemisinin-piperakuin (DHP) from January to May 2011 amounting to 150 patients (Hadalia, 2011; Wanggai, 2011). The use of artesunat injection and DHP and primakuin since last few years used in cases of severe malaria in the PROVINCIAL HOSPITAL in Jayapura. Based on the above then need to do a research to evaluate the efficacy and side effects of the drug combination artesunat injection and DHP and primakuin on patients with severe malaria in the PROVINCIAL HOSPITAL in Jayapura.
