Telah dilakukan penelitian di Universitas Gajah Mada Yogyakarta oleh Rizky dkk, sebanyak 150 responden mengenai pengetahuan masyarakat tentang penggunaan antibiotik dengan tingkat pengetahuan rendah. Penggunaan antibiotik Sefalosporin pasien anak pneumonia dan diare akut rawat inap di sebuah rumah sakit pemerintah Yogyakarta oleh Maria dan Aris sebanyak 249 pasien, pasien pediatrik ISPA rawat inap di RSUD Karanganyar oleh Mega dan Suci jumlah 32 pasien, pada pasien rawat inap dengan diare akut anak di RSU Negara oleh Arifani dkk, jumlah 42 pasien dan terapi antibiotik pada pasien diare akut di Rumah Sakit Banyumanik Semarang oleh Risha dan Akroman dengan jumlah 73 orang. Hasil dari penelitian tersebut di Universitas Gajah Mada Yogyakarta 12%, rumah sakit pemerintah Yogyakarta 29,1% pemakaian terbanyak Seftazidim 9,6%, di RSUD Karanganyar antibiotik Sefalosporin 77% pemakaian terbanyak Sefotaksim 65%, di RSU Negara antibiotik Sefalosporin 97,62%, dan di Rumah Sakit Banyumanik Semarang antibiotik Sefalosporin 98% dengan pemakaian terbanyak Sefotaksim (Cefarin) 42%. Dari hasil penelitian tersebut bahwa pengetahuan masyarakat tentang penggunaan antibiotik cukup baik, serta dilihat dari seluruh penggunaan antibiotik di rumah sakit yang paling banyak digunakan adalah Sefotaksim, antibiotik golongan Sefalosporin generasi ketiga.
