Perebutan Kepulauan Senkaku oleh Cina dan Jepang sudah jelas dikarenakan national interest diantara kedua negara tersebut baik dari segi ekonomi maupun pertahanan, dimana lokasi Kepulauan Senkaku yang strategis dan sumber daya alam yang terkandung di Kepulauan Senkaku yang sangat menguntungkan baik bagi Jepang maupun Cina. Sejauh ini, konsep kepentingan nasional dalam teori realism yang dipakai dalam paper ini sudah cukup jelas menjelaskan mengapa sampai terjadi konflik perebutan Pulau Senkaku antara Jepang dengan Cina.

Kasus perebutan Kepulauan Senkaku antar Jepang dan Cina ini pun telah mengundang perhatian Amerika Serikat. Bahkan Amerika Serikat sempat mengeluarkan statement bahwa siap mengakomodasi dan mendukung Jepang jika memang Cina pada akhirnya akan menyerang Jepang. Hal ini lazim karena seperti yang kita ketahui hubungan Cina dengan AS pun juga penuh dengan konflik. selain itu Jepang juga ternyata merupakan aliansi AS di kawasan Asia Timur. Terlepas dari hal tersebut apabila memang jalur diplomasi tidak lagi memberikan titik temu bagi penyelesaian kasus ini maka bukan tidak mungkin perang dapat terjadi di kawasan ini. Apalagi baik Cina maupun Jepang tidak ada yang mau melonggarkan keinginannya untuk memasukkan Senkaku ke dalam kedaulatannya. Terutama Cina yang mempunyai kepentingan yang lebih banyak akan Kepulauan Senkaku ini, sebagaimana yang kita ketahui dalam mewujudkan kepentingannya Cina terkenal sangat agresif dan tidak segan untuk menyerang Negara yang menentang jalan mereka.
