Karena gembira itulah, mereka berteriak-teriak dilapangan sambil berkata “Banyu, banyu, banyu” dan yang lainnya berkata “Emas, emas, emas”. Perkataan yang diucapkan serempak itu lama-kelamaan terdengar menjadi Banyu-emas, Banyu-emas. Mulai saat itulah, masyarakat Selarong menyebut daerah itu menjadi BANYUMAS.
