Abstrak


Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui parameter populasi dan menghitung parameter genetik, karakter hasil dan komponen hasil serta melakukan seleksi individu pada populasi F3 berdasarkan sifat yang diinginkan khususnya warna beras, bobot 1000 butir, jumlah gabah per malai dan bobot gabah per rumpun. Penelitian telah dilaksanakan pada bulan Januari sampai Juni 2014 yang bertempat di UPT Farm Fakultas Pertanian Universitas Andalas Padang. Material genetik yang digunakan adalah benih F3 dari persilangan padi merah Karajut dengan Fatmawati (KF5, KF33 dan KF42) serta benih kedua tetuanya dengan metode Head to Row (Rumpun ke baris). Dari hasil penelitian didapatkan umur panen pada populasi F3 cenderung mendekati tetua Fatmawati yang tergolong genjah. Pada umumnya tingkat keragaman populasi lebih besar dari keragaman famili, akan tetapi kisarannya luas. Heritabilitas berkisar dari sedang sampai tinggi dan kemajuan genetik harapan (KGH) dengan intensitas seleksi 5% pada populasi F3 tergolong tinggi untuk semua karakter kecuali umur panen. Famili KF42 sudah didapatkan 100% warna berasnya merah sedangkan famili-famili lainnya masih mengalami segregasi. Individu-individu terpilih pada diferensial seleksi dengan intensitas 5% diharapkan dapat membawa sifat superior dari kedua tetuanya.
