APPEARANCE OF POPULATION F3 Pedigree SELECTION OF RED RICE cross KARAJUT Fatmawati Abstract This study aims to determine the parameters and calculate population genetic parameters, yield and yield components of character and conduct individual selection F3 populations based on the desired properties, especially the color of rice, 1000 grain weight, number of grains per panicle and grain weight per hill. The study was conducted from January to June 2014 were held at the Faculty of Agriculture Farm Unit Andalas University, Padang. Genetic material used is F3 seeds of red rice crosses Karajut with Fatmawati (KF5, KF33 and KF42) and second seed parent with methods Head to Row (clumps into line). From the results of harvesting on the F3 populations tend to approach the elders Fatmawati classified as early maturity. In general, the level of population diversity is greater than the diversity of families, but the range is wide. Heritability ranged from moderate to high expectations and genetic progress (KGH) with 5% selection intensity on the F3 population is high for all the characters except for harvesting. Family KF42 has obtained 100% color red rice while the families are still experiencing segregation. Individuals elected to the selection differential with intensity of 5% is expected to bring the superior properties of the two parents. Keywords: red rice, head to row, heritability, selection differential.
