Brown algae is one of the marine resources being very abundant in the sea Indonesia. Colour of brown algae comes from one of the dominant pigment brown algae that is fukosantin. Fukosantin have strong antioxidant properties, antioxidant activity is sensitive to light and heat. The purpose of this Essay to determine the relationship between temperature, longer drying and extraction processes against fukosantin compounds with antioxidant activity. Drying using the oven method and antioxidant activity in a test with the capture of free radicals DPPH (1,1-diphenyl-2-picrylhydrazyl). The antioxidant activity of Padina australis dried at a temperature of 500C for 4 hours to have the strongest activity (37.68 ppm). Extraction with organic solvents showed that methanol can extract fukosantin more optimal than ethanol, DMSO, acetonitrile and acetone. The drying process uses an oven at a temperature of 500C for 4 hours and extraction with methanol can increase the levels fukosantin compounds and antioxidant activity.
