Transportasi merupakan suatu proses menggerakkan atau memindahkan orang dan barang dari satu tempat ke tempat lain (Waldijono, 2001). Seiring dengan pembangunan ekonomi yang terus berjalan, transportasi memegang peranan yang sangat penting. Peningkatan mobilitas yang semakin tinggi dari tahun ke tahun mempengaruhi kondisi transportasi dengan menimbulkan faktor atau masalah yang sering timbul di dalam transportasi yaitu kecelakaan.
Masalah transportasi sangat mempengaruhi keselamatan, kenyamanan dan kelancaran pengguna jalan ketika sedang berada di ruang lalu lintas. Beberapa contoh masalah transportasi yang ada di Indonesia seperti kemacetan yang terjadi di kota-kota besar, jalan di berbagai daerah yang belum memenuhi standar, angka kecelakaan yang masih tinggi, serta berbagai masalah lainnya yang ada di dalam sistem transportasi di Indonesia yang menyebabkan kerugian kepada berbagai pengguna jalan maupun terhadap negara sendiri.
Peran kerja sama yang baik antara pemerintah sebagai regulator dan juga pengambil keputusan, operator,serta masyarakat harus tercipta dengan baik guna terbentuknya suatu sistem transportasi yang efektif, efisien,dan berkeselamatan yang didasari oleh informasi terkini mengenai tingkat aktivitas kota atau kabupaten. Selain hal-hal tersebut juga perlu adanya tindakan untuk mengatasi masalah-masalah transportasi dengan cara melakukan kajian tentang ilmu dan teknologi peraturan yang berlaku dalam berlalu lintas sehingga perlu mengerti dan mempelajari dengan dilakukannya praktek kerja profesi.

Other than those things also need for action to overcome the problems of transport by way of conducting the study of science and technology regulations in traffic so that the need to understand and learn by doing work practice of the profession.
