Amaq Lembain dan Inaq Lembain adalah sepasang suami-istri yang sangat miskin. Mereka dikaruniai dua anak yang masih kecil. Keluarga itu tinggal di Padamara, Nusa Tenggara Barat. Mereka tak punya sawah untuk digarap, tak ada kebun untuk ditanami, juga tak memiliki hewan ternak. Saking miskinnya, terkadang mereka tidak makan seharian. Setiap hari pasangan itu berjalan kaki berkeliling desa, mencari orang yang membutuhkan bantuan mereka.
Suatu hari, seperti biasa Amaq Lembain dan Inaq Lembain pergi mencari pekerjaan beserta kedua anaknya. Setelah seharian berkeliling, akhirnya Amaq Lembain mendapatkan pekerjaan. Ia diminta membetulkan pintu rumah yang rusak. Tinggallah Inaq Lembain yang terus mencari pekerjaan. Sambil menggandeng kedua anaknya, ia mendatangi tiap rumah.
“Permisi Bu, apakah ada yang bisa saga bantu?” tanya Inaq Lembain pada seorang wanita yang sedang menampi beras. Di rumah ibu itu, tampak beberapa wanita sedang menumbuk padi.
Ibu itu memandang sekilas pada Inaq Lembain, “Aku tidak membutuhkan bantuanmu. Sudah banyak yang membantuku,” jawabnya.
“Tolonglah Bu, kedua anak saya butuh makan. Ibu tak perlu membayar dengan uang, cukup dengan beras saja. Asal anak saya bisa makan, saya sudah senang,” kata Inaq Lembain memohon.
Ibu itu merasa iba. Ia akhirnya memberi Inaq Lembain pekerjaan, yaitu menumbuk padi.

Anak-anaknya ia dudukkan di atas batu ceper, tak jauh dari tempatnya. Batu ceper itu biasa disebut batu golog. Inaq Lembain mulai bekerja. Ia bekerja dengan sungguh-sungguh, ia tak ingin mengecewakan ibu yang telah memberinya pekerjaan tersebut.
Saat sedang sibuk menumbuk padi, terdengar suara kedua anaknya, “Ibu… Ibu… Iihatlah kami,” panggil mereka. Kedua anak itu memanggil ibunya karena merasa ada keanehan pada batu yang mereka duduki.
Batu itu bergerak naik, semakin lama semakin tinggi. “Sssttt… diamlah, jangan ganggu Ibu!”sahut Inaq Lembain sambil terus menumbuk. Ia tak menoleh sedikit pun pada anak-anaknya.
Batu itu bergerak semakin tinggi. Kedua anak itu sangat panik dan ketakutan. Mereka serentak berteriak lagi, “Ibu… Ibu… batu ini bergerak naik. Kami takut Bu….”
Inaq Lembain tetap tak peduli. Ia pikir anak-anaknya hanya mencari perhatiannga saja. Ia terus melanjutkan pekerjaannya.

Inaq Lembain menangis kebingungan. Ia memohon pada Tuhan untuk menyelamatkan anak-anaknya.
Dengan bantuan Tuhan, selendang yang dikenakan Inaq, Lembain mampu memenggal batu golog itu. Dengan sekali tebas, batu golog itu pecah menjadi tiga. Namun sayang, meski batu itu sudah pecah, kedua anak Inaq Lembain telah berubah menjadi dua ekor burung.
Si sulung berubah menjadi burung kekuwo, sedangkan si bungsu berubah menjadi burung kelik. Inaq Lembain sangat menyesal, kini kedua anaknya berubah menjadi burung. Meski demikian, ia membawa pulang kedua burung itu dan merawatnya.
Konon kabarnya, ketiga bagian batu golog yang terbelah itu terlempar ke tiga daerah. Lemparan batu golog yang pertama menyebabkan getaran yang sangat dahsyat di Desa Gembong. Bagian kedua batu golog itu terlempar dan jatuh di Dasan Batu. Nama ini diberikan karena ada orang yang menyaksikan saat batu itu jatuh. Batu yang terakhir, terlempar ke daerah yang kemudian dinamakan Montong Teker. Nama ini diberikan karena bagian terakhir batu golog ini menimbulkan suara gemuruh saat mendarat.
