Dalam teologi Kristen, Antikristus adalah pemimpin yang dinubuatkan Alkitab yang akan menjadi musuh Kristus, yang akan menyesatkan banyak orang. Dalam eskatologi Islam, Antikristus biasa dikenal Dajjal.

Terminologi



Kata "antikristus" berasal dari bahasa asli Yunani Koine "ἀντίχριστος" antikristos. Dimana kata tersebut terdiri dari dua akar kata αντί + Χριστός (anti + Kristos). "αντί" (anti) berarti mengganti, melawan atau mengambil tempat orang lain, dan "Χριστός" (Kristos) berarti Kristus, yang dalam bahasa Yunani sama dengan "Mesias" yang berarti "yang diurapi", dan mengacu kepada Yesus dari Nazaret dalam teologi Kristen. Jadi antikristus berarti melawan, mengganti, atau mengambil tempat Kristus. Bisa juga berarti Kristus palsu atau Kristus gadungan.

Kata "antikristus" hanya ditemukan empat kali, semuanya dalam tulisan Rasul Yohanes



1 Yohanes 2:18-19 Anak-anakku, waktu ini adalah waktu yang terakhir, dan seperti yang telah kamu dengar, seorang antikristus akan datang, sekarang telah bangkit banyak antikristus. Itulah tandanya, bahwa waktu ini benar-benar adalah waktu yang terakhir. Memang mereka berasal dari antara kita, tetapi mereka tidak sungguh-sungguh termasuk pada kita; sebab jika mereka sungguh-sungguh termasuk pada kita, niscaya mereka tetap bersama-sama dengan kita. Tetapi hal itu terjadi, supaya menjadi nyata, bahwa tidak semua mereka sungguh-sungguh termasuk pada kita.1 Yohanes 2:22 Siapakah pendusta itu? Bukankah dia yang menyangkal bahwa Yesus adalah Kristus? Dia itu adalah antikristus, yaitu dia yang menyangkal baik Bapa maupun Anak.1 Yohanes 4:3 dan setiap roh, yang tidak mengaku Yesus, tidak berasal dari Allah. Roh itu adalah roh antikristus dan tentang dia telah kamu dengar, bahwa ia akan datang dan sekarang ini ia sudah ada di dalam dunia.2 Yohanes 1:7 Sebab banyak penyesat telah muncul dan pergi ke seluruh dunia, yang tidak mengaku, bahwa Yesus Kristus telah datang sebagai manusia. Itu adalah si penyesat dan antikristus.



Menurut Yohanes maka Antikristus adalah :



Seolah-olah berasal dari kekristenansendiri, namun sesungguhnya tidak (Yohanes memakai kalimat "memang mereka berasal dari antara kita, tetapi mereka tidak sungguh-sungguh termasuk pada kita" pada 1 Yoh 2:19)Menyangkal Yesus sebagai Kristus. (arti Kristus adalah "yang diurapi" atauMesias dan juga menyangkal Allah yang mengutusnya.Tidak berasal dari Allah atau tidak percaya kepada Yesus Kristus sebagai Anak Allah dan tidak menuruti perintah-Nya (1 Yoh. 3:23-24)Tidak mengakui Yesus telah datang sebagai manusia (2 Yohanes 1:7 ).



Dua Binatang dalam Wahyu 13



Wahyu 13 menyebutkan tentang duabinatang yang keluar dari laut dan bumi. Binatang I (ayat 1-10) menunjuk pada antikristus yang akan muncul sebagai pemimpin dari gabungan bangsa-bangsa di akhir zaman untuk melawan Allah.



Sementara Binatang II (ayat 11-18) menunjuk pada "asisten" dari antikristus. Binatang kedua inilah yang akan mengadakan tanda-tanda mujizat untuk melancarkan penyembahan bagi binatang I (antikristus). Ia akan memberikan perintah membuat patung dari binatang I serta memberikan "hidup" bagi patung tersebut dan menuntut penyembahan dari semua penduduk dunia pada waktu itu.



Wahyu 13:18 menjelaskan identitas binatang buas itu, Barangsiapa yang bijaksana, baiklah ia menghitung bilangan binatang itu, karena bilangan itu adalah bilangan seorang manusia, dan bilangannya adalah ialah enam ratus enam puluh enam. Manusia yang bilangannya 666 ini akan menguasai 3 sistem dunia
