PICTURE of SELF CONCEPT of STUDENTS who are OBESE in the FACULTY of NURSING UNIVERSITY of SYIAH KUALA in BANDA ACEH by 2014
ABSTRACT Obesity is a problem that is feared by all ages, including early adulthood because it can affect the physical appearance changes. Obesity can give a negative impact on the psychology of the individual concerned. Any change in the physical appearance of course can affect one's self concept. The concept itself is the attitude which belonged to someone in the perceive and know yourself either positively or negatively. This research aims to know the description of the self concept of students who are obese in the Faculty of nursing University of Syiah Kuala in Banda Aceh, 2014. This research was conducted on 19 and ended on 23 May 2014. The method in this research is a descriptive exploratory. The population in this study as many as 56 people. Sampling method using total sampling. Data collection tools in the form of a questionnaire. The results showed that the concept of self in the obese students in the Faculty of nursing University of Syiah Kuala in Banda Aceh that were in the positive category as much as 33 persons (58,9%) is. On subvariabel body image as many as 31 people (%) were located at 55,4 positive categories. On ideal subvariabel themselves as much as 32 people (57,1%) are in the low category. On subvariabel of self-esteem as much as 29 people (51,8%) is located in the low category. On the role of subvariabel as many as 37 people (66.1%) were located on the category accordingly. On subvariabel ID as many as 30 people (53,6%) is located on the category obviously. Based on the results of the study are expected to be obese students with the concept of being able to maintain positive self concept in itself. While the concept of him being able to fix the negative concept of himself towards the positive.
