Untuk belajar membaca dan menulis anak harus memiliki kesiapan/ kematangan secara fisik dan neurologis. Setelah matang secara perlahan anak memperoleh kemampuan yang mendasarinya untuk dapat membaca dan menulis. Pengajaran sebelum anak matang hanya akan membahayakan atau membebani anak.
