Belum lama ini pemerintahn Indonesia dihebohkan dengan skandal penyadapan telepon milik presiden RI dan ibu negara oleh Amerika Serikat (AS). Bahkan muncul lagi perkara yang sama, soal penyadapan, tetapi dilakukan oleh Australia. Persoalan ini sampai sekarang, tidak jelas apa kesimpulan yang diambil oleh pemerintah Indonesia.
Tampaknya di tingkat internasional, apalagi kepentingan politik global, soal sadap-menyadap bukan hal yang luar biasa. Itu sudah menjadi kebiasaan pihak-pihak tertentu untuk memata-matai lawan, sehingga setiap gerak, keputusan, dan langkah yang diambil terkait berbagai kepentingan, bisa diketahui, diantisipasi, dan dimonitor.

Penyadapan ini merupakan perang intelijen. Di tingkat global, apa pun dilakukan oleh pihak lawan, harus diketahui lawan lainnya. Paling tidak seperti langkah yang dilakukan oleh Australia dan Amerika Serikat, terhadap Indonesia. Melihat persoalan ini, Indonesia dianggap dua negara itu memiliki peran penting baik dari kawasan, maupun terkait perdagangan, industri, dan pertahanan misalnya.
Untuk itu sedapat mungkin, segala gerak langkah Indonesia patut diketahui oleh Australia dan Amerika Serikat. Salah satu caranya dengan menyadap jaringan telepon para petinggi negara ini. Untuk itu, mungkin kini kewaspadaan berbagai pihak perlu ditingkatkan. Mengamati gerak lawan boleh saja, tetapi yang wajar, dengan etika. Kalau kita tidak membangun iklim bersaing yang sehat dan beretika, maka ke depan yang dibangun adalah kecurigaan, kecurangan, dan ketidakbenaran. Generasi muda kita akan mencontoh keburukan itu.

Karena itu, tidak mungkin kecurangan dibangun di atas kecurangan lain. Bersaingan secara wajar, dan sehat, seperti pemilu jurdil (jujur dan adil). Apabila ingin mewujudkan pemilu yang jurdil, maka persaingan untuk mencapai itu juga harus judil.
