Rubber is a polymer of hydrocarbons contained on some plants LaTeX. The main source of rubber production in international trade is the Hevea or brasiliensis (Euphorbiaceae). Some other plants also produce LaTeX SAP with slightly different properties of rubber, such as members of the ara-araan (e.g. figs), chrysophyllum-sawoan (e.g. gutta-percha and chrysophyllum manila), another Euphorbiaceae, and dandelion. During World War II, these sources are used to fill in the blanks of the rubber supply. Now, gutta-percha is used in medicine (guttapercha), whereas LaTeX chrysophyllum manila commonly used for chewing gum (chicle). Rubber industry can now be produced synthetically and become rivals in the industry perkaretan.
