Sebagaimana diketahui,selain Konvensi Jenewa telah disetujui pula dua protokol tambahan yang telah disetujui konferensi diplomatik dalam rangka memperkuat “pembangunan” Hukum Humaniter Internasional.Protokol tersebut ditandatangani pada 10 Juni 1977.Protokol tersebut merupakan suplemen atau penjabaran dan penjelasan lebih lanjut dari Konvensi Jenewa.
