Konduktifitas termal didefinisikan sebagai ilmu untuk mengetahui perpindahan energi karena perbedaan suhu diantara benda atau material. Material yang dapat menghantarkan panas dengan baik disebut konduktor sedangkan yang kurang baik disebut isolator. Konduktifitas termal merupakan fungsi suhu dan akan bertambah sedikit kalau suhu naik, akan tetapi variasinya kecil dan sering dapat diabaikan.
