Belajar bahasa inggris tidak terlepas atau selalu melibatkan vocabulary. Penguasaan vocabulary merupakan hal penting dalam mempelajarai bahasa. karena semakin banyak siswa mendapatkan kosakata maka akan semakin mudah pula siswa menguasai bahasa.
Faktor yang memperngaruhi prestasi belaja salah satunya yaitu motivasi. Maka dari itu, Crossword Puzzle menjadi salahsatu teknik pembelajaran bahasa yang memotivasi siswa dalam belajar sehingga pembelajaran bahasa inggris di kelas menjadi lebih menyenangkan dan tidak membosankan akan pembelajarannya.
Terkait hal tersebut, kerangka berfikir pada penelitian ini yaitu apabila permainan crosswor puzzle memberikan pengaruh terhadap pembelajaran bahasa inggris khususnya vocabulary siswa, maka penguasaan vocabulary akan meningkat. Maka dapat disimpulkan bahwa crossword puzzle efektif dalam menambah penguasaan vocabulary siswa.
