LEGENDA CANDI PRAMBANAN


Di dekat kota Yogyakarta terdapat candi Hindu yang paling indah di Indonesia. Candi ini dibangun dalam abad kesembilan Masehi. Karena terletak di desa Prambanan, maka candi ini disebut candi Prambanan tetapi juga terkenal sebagai candi Lara Jonggrang, sebuah nama yang diambil dari legenda Lara Jonggrang dan Bandung Bondowoso. Beginilah ceritanya.

Konon tersebutlah seorang raja yang bernama Prabu Baka. Beliau bertahta di Prambanan. Raja ini seorang raksasa yang menakutkan dan besar kekuasaannya. Meskipun demikian, kalau sudah takdir, akhirnya dia kalah juga dengan Raja Pengging. Prabu Baka meninggal di medan perang. Kemenangan Raja Pengging itu disebabkan karena bantuan orang kuat yang bernama Bondowoso yang juga terkenal sebagai Bandung Bondowoso karena dia mempunyai senjata sakti yang bernama Bandung.

Dengan persetujuan Raja Pengging, Bandung Bondowoso menempati Istana Prambanan. Di sini dia terpesona oleh kecantikan Lara Jonggrang, putri bekas lawannya -- ya, bahkan putri raja yang dibunuhnya. Bagaimanapun juga, dia akan memperistrinya.

Mendengar bunyi lesung dan mencium bau bunga-bungaan yang harum, roh-roh halus menghentikan pekerjaan mereka karena mereka kira hari sudah siang.
