Latar Belakang: Di madrasah As Salam ada 2 faktor yang mempengaruhi kurangnya pemahaman dalam pembelajaran maharah kitabah, yakni faktor dari dalam dan luar. Faktor dari dalam yaitu minimnya pengetahuan siswa terhadap bahasa arab itu sendiri, karena latar belakang siswa yang heterogen. Faktor dari luar yaitu masalah strategi dan metode yang diterapkan dalam pembelajaran maharah kitabah di dalam kelas. Untuk meningkatkan maharah kitabah siswa Madrasah Aliyah AS SALAM dengan jalan menerapkan metode problem solving, metode problem solving adalah metode yang memberi kesempatan pada siswa untuk berfikir dengan bebas sesuai dengan minat dan kemampuannya
