Hukum Humaniter Internasional adala

Hukum Humaniter Internasional adalah seperangkat aturan yang, karena alasan kemanusiaan dibuat untuk membatasi akibat-akibat dari pertikaian senjata. Hukum ini melindungi mereka yang tidak atau tidak lagi terlibat dalam pertikaian, dan membatasi cara-cara dan metode berperang. Hukum Humaniter Internasional adalah istilah lain dari hukum perang (laws of war) dan hukum konflik bersenjata (laws of armed conflict).

Istilah hukum humaniter atau lengkapnya disebut International Humanitarian Law Applicable in Armed Conflict, pada awalnya dikenal sebagai hukum perang (laws of war), yang kemudian berkembang menjadi hukum konflik bersenjata (laws of arms conflict), dan pada akhirnya dikenal dengan istilah hukum humaniter.
Hukum Humaniter Internasional mempunyai 2 cabang, yaitu :
a. Hukum Jenewa, yang disusun untuk melindungi personil militer yang tidak lagi ambil bagian dalam pertempuran dan orang – orang yang tidak terlibat aktif dalam peperangan, yaitu penduduk sipil, sedangkan
b. Hukum Den Haag, yang menetapkan hak dan kewajiban pihak – pihak yang berperang dalam melaksanakan operasi militer dan menetapkan batasan – batasan mengenai sarana yang boleh dipakai untuk mencelakai musuh

Humanitarian or full legal terms is called International Humanitarian Law Applicable in Armed Conflict, originally known as the law of war (laws of war), which later evolved into armed conflict law (laws of arms conflict), and ultimately known as humanitarian law.
International Humanitarian Law has two branches, namely:
a. Law Geneva,
which is structured to protect military personnel who are no longer taking part in the fighting and people - people who are not actively involved in warfare, ie the civilian population, while b. Hague law, which establishes the rights and obligations of the parties - the warring parties in carrying out military operations and set limits - limits on the means that may be used to harm the enemy
